According a new study, survey results have found out that individuals who have successfully switched to vaping are prone to fewer respiratory health infections. An e-survey was conducted which took responses from over 941 respondents and assessed the subjective changes in respiratory systems that occurred when regular smokers switched to vaping in the last two months.
"There is no doubt that e-cigarettes are much safer than conventional cigarettes, but smokers are still led to believe that they're dangerous.”
The results concluded that over 66% of the individuals taking part in the survey showed an improvement in respiratory symptoms, and around 29% reported no significant change. There were only 5% of the individuals who suggested that they experienced no change.
Professor Peter Hajek, from the Queen Mary Institute of London, who was one of the lead researchers, said "There is no doubt that e-cigarettes are much safer than conventional cigarettes, but smokers are still led to believe that they're dangerous.” He also added, “This misinformation includes a misreported study on rats that claimed that vaping may increase vulnerability to infections. These new findings from human vapers show that this is not the case. However, the present results provide sufficient information to suggest that vaping does not increase infection rates and may in fact lead to a decrease in infections."
The research also added that the some other speculations that suggested that vaping and use of e-cigarettes leads to normal/conventional smoking were false and that there is no such relationship. Moreover, users were monitored over a period of 1.5 years and there were no adverse effects noted. Moreover, those who were prone to asthma and switched to electronic devices had fewer risks and improvements.
Moreover, there are added benefits to vaping as well, as it provides antimicrobial protection through the e-liquid that is converted to a vapour.
The reasons for the improved health were that smoking increases one’s susceptibility to infections and switching to electronic devices significantly reduces those as there are no traces of combustible material inhaled.
Moreover, there are added benefits to vaping as well, as it provides antimicrobial protection through the e-liquid that is converted to a vapour. However, since the type of e-liquid that is inhaled ranges due to the variety of options available, the results are subject specific and limited by the e-liquid used.
